Assisted Lymphatic Therapy
-
Assisted Lymphatic Therapy (ALT) is a safe and non-invasive treatment designed to detoxify the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health.
This therapy encourages the movement of lymph, a fluid that helps remove waste and toxins from bodily tissues. Improved lymphatic circulation can lead to numerous health benefits, including reduced swelling, enhanced immune function, and increased energy levels.
Assisted lymphatic therapy (ALT) uses an FDA approved device that works to stimulate stagnant and blocked fluid in the lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. Two glass wands are passed over the lymphatic system in gentle, sweeping motions to loosen and stimulate the proper flow of our lymphatics. Trapped proteins found in the interstitial spaces (the fluid-filled space located between cells and blood vessels within tissues and organs) react with inert gasses located in the hand held glass wands and become dissociated, allowing the excess fluid to flow into the lymphatic vessels to be naturally cleared from the body.
Once cleared, nutrients and white blood cells (used to fight off infections) can finally reach their destinations within our bodies. This process is essential for recovery, as it ensures that the body's intricate systems work together efficiently, allowing healing to begin.

By enhancing lymph flow in the body, ALT can benefit essentially anyone, regardless of age or health status.
This therapy is especially beneficial for individuals who have experienced surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy, as these medical procedures often affect lymphatic function.
Patients recovering from surgery may encounter swelling or lymphedema, conditions that can be effectively managed with ALT. Furthermore, individuals with chronic health issues that disrupt lymphatic circulation may also experience significant relief and enhanced well-being with regular ALT sessions.
Integrating ALT into a wellness regimen can bolster overall health, strengthen the immune system and facilitate recovery processes.
If you do have any concerns about your health, please discuss them with your doctor before booking your appointment.
You should not undergo lymphatic drainage massages if you have:
Congestive heart failure
Heart arrhythmia
Pregnancy
Presence of pacemaker
Acute infection
Currently taking immunosuppressants
Kidney failure
Presence of blood clots
-
During your session you will be draped with linen while comfortably lying on a massage table. A calming environment is created by a dimly lit room and soft music playing in the background. Your therapist will use two wands that gently glide over your skin. You may feel gentle pressure as your therapist works out areas of congestion and inflammation. This light pressure will be as calming and enjoyable as a tissue massage with your regular massage therapist!
After your session you will be provided with a refreshing beverage to replenish electrolytes and vitamins.
Because ALT is so effective at detoxing, you may notice the need to use the restroom more frequently just after your session.
Side Effects and Safety:
Assisted lymphatic therapy is performed by a trained and certified therapist. Adverse side effects are not typically reported by patients; however, mild nausea, headache, and fatigue can occur due to the process of detoxification. The detox period can last between 12-48 hours.
